Community Upliftment

Community work is part of Hannah Game Lodges Corporate and Social Investment. Wherever possible, Hannah Game Lodge tries to employ its staff from the local community. This not only ensures an income to the local people, but also the opportunity to grow and learn.

Empowering the community is increasingly becoming important anywhere in the world, and Hannah Lodge is also doing its share.

As we feel both obligated, and committed, in as much as promises made to teachers, pupils and local communities, we have taken it upon ourselves to finance two school projects not only as far as the construction of classrooms, but also to supply the students and teachers with various teaching materials.

Hannah Lodge will strive in the future to continue assisting the local communities and wishes to invite any visitor to the lodge to visit the school, and if the visitor wishes to, to assist us with these projects in future donations of clothing,  building materials, classroom materials or financial donations.

We thank you in advance for your interest and support.

Maepa Primary School Community Project

Maepa Primary School was established 20 years ago by the Hannah Trust in order to give the children the right to basic education.

It was noted that the old school structure was quite deteriorated, and with a tin roof. The children were therefore being exposed to the elements, and they were either getting cold during the winter months, leading to colds and flu, or hot in the summer months leading to dehydration. This in turn resulted in poor attendance, and ultimately failure to excel.

Maepa Primary School currently consists of 4 Classrooms with a basic Ablution Block and a small Tin Shack Kitchen. Here, women from the community assist in making food and feeding the children daily. A tuck shop/kitchen has been built, and we hope to see this up and running in the next few months.

Currently we have 160 pupils in the school from Grade 0 to Grade 7.

As we feel both obligated, and committed, in as much as promises made to the school principal, teachers, pupils and local community, we have taken it upon ourselves to finance the school project not only as far as the construction of classrooms, but also to supply the Grade R class with reading and other materials, the Art Class with Art material, and the Computer Room with 10 computers. An office for the Head Master and a small Library, have also been completed in December 2012.

Furthermore we decided that due to some grades sharing class rooms, we also completed in September 2013 another 2 classrooms with separate ablution facilities for girls and boys and another small kitchen.

Hannah Lodge will strive in the future to continue assisting the local communities and wishes to invite any visitor to the lodge to visit the school, and if the visitor wishes to, to assist us with these projects in future donations of food, clothing, building materials, classroom materials or financial donations.

We thank you in advance for your interest and support.

Remmogo/ Matibidi Pre School Community Project

Remmogo Pre School is situated on the Panorama Route close to the Three Rondavels of the Blyde River Canyon. This mainly Bapedi community still relies a lot on subsistence farming.

Hannah Trust decided a number of years ago to assist this community by building a new school structure for the children, who are the future of this beautiful country. The old school structure was just a small stone building and quite deteriorated.

Hannah Trust decided to build the new school and lend their support wherever and however possible. School books, sleeping mats, food and clothes are regularly donated. Teachers need to regularly be found, in the never ending shortage of school teachers in South Africa. Hannah Trust tries to give the children, a semblance of a normal lifestyle and will also every year host a Christmas Party for the children.

Remmogo/Matabidi Pre School, with Hannah Game Lodge’s assistance, now consists of 5 Classrooms with flushing toilets, a kitchen from where the children are supplied a daily meal during school attendance, and a grassed outside playing area.

Currently there are 110 children attending Remmogo Pre School.

Hannah Trust is both obligated, and committed, to supporting and empowering principal, teachers, pupils and local community. Again as in the Maepa Community project, Hannah Trust has taken it upon them-selves to finance the Remmogo pre-school project on an ongoing basis.

Hannah Lodge continues to strive in assisting the local communities and wishes to invite any visitor to the lodge to visit the school, and if the visitor wishes to, to assist us with these projects in future donations of clothing, building materials, classroom materials or financial donations.

We thank you in advance for your interest and support.
