Hannah Lodge overview

The beauty of the Limpopo Province, the name “Limpopo” having its etymological origin from the Sepedi word ” diphororo tša meetse “ – meaning strong gushing waterfalls, is not easily surpassed, the forces of nature that have crafted this beautiful region, have taken a bit of time off to allow our guests access to some breathtaking attractions that include incredible wildlife, amazing scenery, awesome mountain landscapes, sweeping rivers, therapeutic waterfalls, misty valleys, adrenalin pumping adventure and interesting historical activities which are all part of an endless experience that we have to offer you at Hannah Game Lodge.

The Kinnear family

The first time Fred George Kinnear visited the farm Luncarty, on the outskirts of the tiny town Ohrigstad, little did he know what God had intended for him and the ground he stepped on. During his second visit, Fred was greeted by a soaring Black Eagle, and he saw this as clear a sign: a destiny forever linked to this luscious land.
On 28 February 1992, the Kinnear family purchased the farm. Fred, his wife Hannetjie and their daughter Selize had a joint vision to create a reserve in the heart of the African bush; conservation was their main inspiration. The land was called Hannah, which means “a gift from God”.
After opening the once modest homestead to visitors, the reserve’s popularity grew and consequently the need for extra accommodation. The Lodge was officially established in 1996; and over the years it has developed into Hannah Game Lodge as we know it today.

Staff

As a privately owned reserve, Hannah Game Lodge is managed by a Board of Trustees and run by a competent team of friendly staff, overseen by the Managing Trustee. By implementing a job creation policy, the Board helps to empower and uplift the local community with employment opportunities, skills and supplied staff accommodation.
