Community upliftment

Community work is part of Hannah Game Lodges Corporate and Social Investment

Community upliftment overview

Community work is part of our corporate social responsibility and wherever possible, Hannah Game Lodge aims to employ staff from the local community. We are also currently financing two school projects by building classrooms and supplying learners and teachers with educational material. We warmly invite our guests to visit Maepa Primary School and Remmogo / Matibidi Pre-School, and if visitors wish to assist with these projects, we encourage donations of clothing, building material, teaching material or financial contributions. We thank you in advance for your interest and support.

Maepa Primary School Community Project

The Maepa Primary School Community Project was established by the Hannah Trust to provide children with the right to basic education, on an ongoing basis. While being taught in an old and derelict school structure, pupils were constantly exposed to the elements, causing illness in the winter and dehydration in the summer. Poor attendance and failure to excel ensued. Over the years we have supplied the school and its learners, from Gr R to Grade 7, with proper ablution blocks, kitchen facilities, a tuckshop as well as enough sufficient classrooms for the 160 pupils. We filled a computer room with 10 computers, built a small library and an office for the school’s headmaster – we and regularly assist with reading and art materials.

Remmogo / Matibidi Pre School Community Project

Remmogo / Matibidi Pre School is situated on the Panorama Route, close to the Three Rondavels of the Blyde River Canyon. Hannah Trust decided to assist this community, who mostly relies on subsistence farming, by building a new and improved school structure for the children, the future of our exquisite South Africa. School books, sleeping mats, food and clothes are donated regularly, while constantly scouting for skilled teachers in a country with few and far between. Today, the improved Pre-School consists of 5 classrooms with flushing toilets, a kitchen (providing the children with a daily meal) and a grass playing area outside. To end off each school year, the 110 pupils are invited to a Christmas Party hosted especially for them.

Hannah Lodge experiences

Nestled close to the border of two provinces, Hannah Game Lodge offers quick access to Mpumalanga, the place where the sun rises, and Limpopo meaning strong gushing waterfalls. The nearby Panorama Route boasts just that: a scenic drive from waterfalls to the third largest canyon in the world, The Blyde River Canyon, strewn with 1800s gold rush history along the way.
